St. Thomas Anglican Mission

Burlington, North Carolina

A Christian Community Now Forming in the Heart of North Carolina

Strength - Beauty - Truth

Are you searching for greater meaning in your life?

Are you seeking one thing that is constant in our modern world of never ceasing change?

That one thing is Jesus Christ.

Faith in Christ will give you that greater meaning. And the Church, Christ’s spiritual body on earth, is that constant.

At St. Thomas, our motto is Strength, Beauty, and Truth

Strength that comes from unyielding faith in Christ as embodied by the His own Apostles who despite facing death spread that faith around the world…

Beauty of the Church’s ancient worship that finds it’s pinnacle in the service of Holy Communion, the Eucharist, the Mass…

Truth that Jesus Christ is the eternal word made flesh, who was in the beginning with God, who is God, and through whom all things were made.

He is the way, the TRUTH, the life.

We plan to bring just such beauty to Burlington, soon!

A Call to Holiness

At St. Thomas we seek to embody this motto of Strength, Beauty, and Truth through drawing people to Jesus Christ and to holiness through the Church’s Ancient Prayer, through the profound vision and truth of the Bible, and through the timeless celebration of Holy Communion as the Church has done since Christ’s command at the Last Supper to “do this in remembrance of me.”

What Exactly is an Anglican…What Exactly is a Mission?

“Anglican” is just a word derived from an ancient Latin term that meant something like “of the English people”. It was used 1000 years ago to describe the Christian Church in England and “Anglican” is used today to describe Christians who trace their spiritual roots to English Christianity.

The greatest number of Anglicans are now found in Africa, but Anglican Churches have deep roots in America. Anglicans around the world share a common style of prayer and worship.

We even have a book that contains many of those prayers. We call it “The Book of Common Prayer.”

“Mission” is word many Christians use to describe a newly forming local Church. A mission can be formed in many different ways, but it always has a special relationship with the bishop of the diocese where the mission is formed.

You might be wondering, what is a bishop? What is a diocese? Click below to join our online community to discover those answers and more.
